The National Film School of Denmark is one of the most renowned film schools in the world, famous for its unique approach to filmmaking, pragmatic learning environment, and for fostering talents such as Lars Von Trier, Susanne Bier, and Thomas Vinterberg.

In 2022, the school needed a new identity to align with its strategic focus. For many years, it had been a closed-off and somewhat mysterious institution, with limited accessibility for the public and little information available to prospective students. However, a new strategy was introduced to open the school to a broader and more diverse group of applicants. Additionally, the school aimed to take on a more active and open role in the public and film industry through events, a wider variety of courses, and masterclasses.

Our task was to bring the school’s heritage and DNA into a new era of filmmaking while creating an inviting and open identity that communicates with a welcoming tone. The creative concept draws inspiration from the rhythm and dynamics of filmmaking, referencing editing software and embracing the raw, in-progress nature of the creative process.
