Established as a pewter store in 1924 by Estrid Ericson, Svenskt Tenn was transformed through its collaboration with architect Josef Frank into an iconic interior brand known for its playful elegance, colourful patterns, and refined craftsmanship. Today, Svenskt Tenn is a cultural institution, preserving its century long history while encouraging the next generation of designers to create products that last forever.
Our work focused on creating a modern online experience that stayed true to the authenticity and history of the brand. By examining archived letters, photographs, drawings, advertisements and store designs, we crystallised a concept that combined the bold interior philosophy of Estrid Ericson with Josef Frank’s structured approach to product design.
As an initial step, we refreshed the brand with a new colour palette and a bespoke typeface directly inspired by the handwriting and dynamic of the collaboration between Josef Frank and Estrid Ericson. The modular e-commerce experience was crafted with the intent of enabling Svenskt Tenn to better tell the stories of products, designers and their vast history – all while making it more intuitive to shop.
