Glossier’s success is rooted in its strong and engaged community. In collaboration with Glossier we designed their e-commerce experience, where the voice of the community has a central role. In order to achieve this, we introduced the vision of creating a platform that balances mechanical simplicity with editorial layouts and user generated content.

Urbanears

Urbanears is a Swedish headphones brand that connects tech and culture through design and functionality. We have translated this to a well performing e-commerce platform built on a simple design system that requires minimum ongoing development efforts.

The design system consists of tiles that can be used in a range of variations for different communication needs – a system that requires minimum ongoing development efforts.

UI details are inspired by tech and that Urbanears is always ‘in the making’, highlighting that we are never finished.

As part of the project we developed a tone of voice guide and product messaging throughout the site.

Postevand

Postevand (Danish for tap water) makes products with minimal environmental impact that keep people hydrated when they are far away from the tap. We shaped a clean visual identity with emphasize on their mission, and room for expressive campaigns.

To promote their mission to protect Denmark’s natural water resources and create a sustainable alternative to bottled water, Postevand partnered with musician and activist MØ. In collaboration with Postevand, Barkas created the art direction and messaging for the campaign.

We elevated the imagery with a tight grid and small typography that is only used where needed. By using a paper-white background and ink-brown details, we ensured however a tactile and warm feel.

Blur effects add a soft contrast to the otherwise rather minimal design.

Online and offline communication are strongly tied together.

The monogram designed by Moses Voigt will be the leading identifier of the brand. For its launch we created a subtle but strong reveal animation.

Film School of Denmark

Bringing the DNA and legacy of the National Film School of Denmark into a new era with focus on transparency and inclusivity. We shaped an open and colourful visual language inspired by the process and rhythm of filmmaking.

Process

In the research process we looked into different fields of inspiration. We made an audit of the schools legacy and practical needs from a graphic perspective, studied other schools and cultural institutions and the universe of film in general.

Acne Studios

In collaboration with Acne Studios we designed and launched their e-commerce experience. The visual language emphasizes the iconic Acne photography and adds identity in subtle UI details and interactions. The site expands into Acne’s physical retail experiences as well.
